Labiaplasty
The size and shapes of labia vary tremendously between different women. Some women may find that their unique anatomy makes intimate situations, as well as everyday activities, uncomfortable or painful. Women may also avoid certain clothing due to the way it fits or feels. A Labiaplasty can correct these issues that cause discomfort and self-consciousness for a happier, more care-free you!

Usually, women who seek labiaplasty have labia minora (inner vaginal lips) that are either enlarged, uneven, or both. In these women, enlarged labia minora can be due to genetics, childbirth, aging, or other factors. Enlarged, uneven labia minora can cause physical discomfort during sex or physical activity, as well as embarrassment in intimate moments. The labiaplasty procedure provides an effective cure to the mentioned concerns and issues.[/accordion-item]

A labiaplasty can be done either under local anesthesia and sedation or general anesthesia; the decision is the patient’s. When the patient is relaxed and the labia minora are anesthetized, the excess skin is resected in a moderate fashion, leaving the best possible symmetry between the two sides.
The incisions are closed with absorbable sutures, so sutures do not need to be removed. Incisions are created in the natural crease of the labia to make them as inconspicuous as possible. Surgery usually lasts between 1-2 hours to complete.[/accordion-item]

Following your labiaplasty procedure, sitz baths are recommended after the surgery and follow-up in the office in within the next few days. Antibiotics may be prescribed to ensure optimal recovery. Swelling and bruising may develop over the first few days, though this will resolve with time. Patients are advised to refrain from sexual intercourse for 3-4 weeks. Overall, it takes about six months to a year for results to be absolutely complete.[/accordion-item]
